Slide rail systems are used as trench support in replace of wood or steel sheeting. Slide rail shoring is important in excavation especially in areas with unfavorable ground conditions or with underground infrastructure issues.
National Trench Safety’s slide rails are lighter, allowing for easier installation, giving you more time on the job while adding additional safety measures. Our systems are designed to handle both deep and shallow excavations, areas close to buildings, and adjacent to active roadways providing minimal settlement. Working with NTSafety can help save you more time on the job while keeping workers on the job safe.
NTS Slide Rail Features
- Easy Installation & removal
- Depths up to 8.5m achieved via the use of extensions rails & a twin strut arrangement
- Great flexibility
- Fully enclosed pits are achievable with the use of corner rails
- Can provide large under strut clearances that are adjustable
- Minimal vibration during both installation & removal
- A much faster and safer system when compared to traditional sheet and frame solutions
In many instances, the individual slide rail components are lighter and easier to handle than large trench shields. When properly designed, slide rail systems offer unequaled pipe clearance and large free-span work zones. Rolling strut carts allow the spreader assemblies to be quickly moved up and down within the system as need be for the placement of pipe or equipment and to change the free span work zone provided by the system.
Slide rail systems also offer unique flexibility when one encounters crossing utilities or unforeseen underground obstacles. Various Slide Rail components have been designed to allow the user to safely and quickly install protective systems around such obstacles and crossing utilities to allow the project to continue as planned with minimal disruption.
While no one system is perfect for every job, working with an experienced NTS Trench Safety Specialist will hopefully enhance a project’s safety and the overall productivity of the contractor.
Steel Sheeting Frame Plates
Sheeting frame plates can be used with all slide rail applications. Frame plates are used in conjunction with our KD6/8 Trench Sheet to enable service/utility crossings. Suitable for all types of drive and reception pits.
Steel sheeting frame plates can be used to provide positive soil support in the worst soil conditions. Rugged steel guides are used to form the edge of the protective system with steel sheets inserted through the guides to provide soil support to the depth of the excavation. The system is flexible and can be used in-pit configurations and in some cases linear applications with conventional round steel spreaders to provide support along the width of the excavation.
The system provides a “dig and push” installation method as opposed to the vibration typically required to install steel sheeting. The system helps to minimize soil disturbance around the excavation.
Steel sheeting frames can be used to provide open span excavations from 12’x12’ to 40’x40’

Hydraulic Panel Puller
The state-of-the-art NTS Hydralifter is designed to enable you to remove even larger trench shoring plates and slide rails quickly, safely and exceptionally easily. Because the Hydralifter is equipped with integrated hydraulic cylinders which can increase the lifting force to either 50 or 100 tonnes, it is ideal for use with smaller-sized excavators which then have absolutely no trouble pulling out trench shoring plates and slide rails. Both the T50 and T100 models are optimized for use with Oilquick, Likufix as well as other fully-hydraulic power units.
It is mandatory to follow the operation manual strictly! It is not allowed to use the machine without a HEM beam!
The Hydralifter boasts an inbuilt rotary motor that allows it to be controlled and positioned with the utmost precision. The Hydralifter itself is operated from the operator’s cab. The NTS Hydralifter allows you to remove trench shoring systems quickly and safely while ensuring that both the machines and material are subjected to a minimum of strain and stress.
